How is wired ethernet connection secured

    If I use ethernet cable to attach to my Router instead of wireless can anyone tell me is the data i'm sending is encrypted the same as when connecting wireless with WPA encryption?

    No it's not encrypted.

    It can be, but you'll never see it I a residential setup.

    The wireless encryption is between the router and the device to prevent a nearby wireless device picking up the signal and reading the data. If you are connected to the router with a cable the data passing along the cable cannot be picked up unless a second cable was spliced into the one you are using.
