Happened us last year, auld lad thought I did it and vice versa, rang local office and explained what happened, no issue, had to fill out a 1b form (I think) and got the card a few days later. To be fair to the lady I was dealing with, she said we all make mistakes:D

What happened to the BVD sample

I'd register him asap to the nearest date you think he was and explain the situation. Might be difficult if you've a small herd though! But if there were extenuating circumstances like a family death etc they might not be too mad at you. :)

We had animal tagged and sent off the bvd sample at the time, bvd result came back a few days later. Testing the calf and registering him do not seem to be dependant on each other, other than one without the other will result in no movement cert!!!!:D

Tell the truth as regards dates as it will only screw you up later. Once you try to register a form will come back to be signed by your vet to confirm the animals age. Send it off and the card will come then.

I had a late reg calf last year and had an inspection at end of year
    I wasn't let off.
Lesson learned try to do things right and end up getting screwed.

have to disagree with that, the guys with lots of late reg are the guys that get picked as regular offenders, we have a neighbour who has got done twice in the last three years and dosnt reg a calf till the animal is 2 months old and group regs them, for to have them heavier than anbody elses for age in the mart, last year he had an inspection with 15 calves not tagged or registered on the day and was told to do them with in 27 days of course he went back to his 2 month rule and got done and had to dna and a 15 per cent cut and is back at the same again this year telling everbody in the mart how he gets away all the time.
