Hi Folks, I've a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows 8.1. Whenever I go to shut it down it restarts a few seconds later. Also, when I put the lid down it won't go into sleep mode and the fan is going flat out. Was ok yesterday, this only started this evening. Can anybody help me? Thanks.

If you hold the power button in until it shuts down does it still restart?

I have a Dell with a similar problem. I suspect the power button. Try unplugging the charger before you shutdown.
