    Hi,

I am planning on tiling my hallway, kitchen & dining area, utility and wc in the same porcelain tile but can't decide whether to go for matte or polished. Most of these will be in the kitchen and dining area which is part of an open plan kitchen and living area so I am wondering if people can suggest what might look best next to an oak engineered floor in the living area and also because this room is south facing it will get a lot of sun. Will the polished surface be too reflective in this sunny room?

Also are polished really easier to clean but sometimes slippy to walk on?

I have the polished and love them. Had mat before and find the polished much easier to keep clean.

Not sure what colour you are going for but try not to get a totally plain tile - that shows up everything. If there is a vein going through them they hide the dirt so much better. I think with tiles going all the way through from the hall, the shine off the polished will look fab as you look into kitchen.

I'm doing the exact same thing at the moment. I would say that polished will give a much better finished look. I've seen them in a friend's house and they look great. I would say get tiles with a vein going through them because I've put 2 different tiles in my hall temporarily to get an idea of the overall look. The very plain cream one looks filthy and the one with the vein looks fine.

My biggest dilemma is picking one that isn't too slippy. The one that i'm in favour of is supposedly slippy when wet, so I'm currently trying to find a similar looking tile that isn't as slippery.

Matt is easier to clean in some respects, less streaks will show.

Matt or gloss doesnt determine how slippy they are but it does if a tile is less slippy it will also be more difficult to keep clean.. sont get an anti slip tile as they will break your heart keeping them clean

I know this is an old thread but can I ask how it turned out? I am thinking of doing the same and wondered how you got on? Also any opinion/tips on where's good to buy the tiles? Looking for polished porcelain in the biggest size possible.
    Thanks
