Zafira wing mirror cover won't fit

I have a 2003 Zafira which needs (to keep the NCT man happy) a wing mirror cover.

I ordered one but while it appears to be the correct shape, the clips on the back that hold it to the mirror frame don't align.

On the cover that I have there are 4 clips, all horizontal. On the mirror frame itself 3 of the receivers are horizontal and but the 4th is vertical. There are a few other bits and pieces that don't align, so while it's almost the correct cover, it's just not quite.

I know that the car changed from ~2005, so it's possible that I somehow have a 2005 mirror on a 2003 car as we bought it second hand.

Is anyone familiar enough with the Zafira to say whether a 2005 mirror would "fit" on a 2003 car, and if it fits, doyou know if the 2005 mirror had the different clip layout (3 horizontal and 1 vertical)?

    Thanks,

    z

p.s. the really annoying thing is that the NCT man said that the uncovered mirror had "sharp edges", but it doesn't even have any sharp edges. This is a problem that doesn't need to be fixed in my books.

Sounds like you've gotten the wrong one. Possibly from the facelifted model or maybe there was some variance between the vauxhall and opel part.

Might be worth giving an opel service centre a call

Plenty of breakers should have both pre and post facelift wing mirrors available at a fraction of the cost of a new one. Might need to be sprayed, but if you're not bothered about the looks then it won't matter.

Possible you have one for the left hand drive model.
