Bought a 07 1.5 diesel qashqai last night. Everything seemed perfect. Checked for smoke, restarted, revved all perfect. Maybe a bit of black smoke, but def no white or blue. This morning there is a lot of blue smoke on a cold start. Fine once its warm, no smoke whatsoever. Only on a cold start. There is a good service history and timing belt was changed. No turbo noise or any other noise. Just blue smoke until it gets warm.

    Any ideas? Thanks

    - and there's a interesting/funny/little bit creepy youtube video embedded regarding the construction and completion - see 2min 57sec "spiritually it won't be moved..." etc. The song is very funny too actually, it worth watching for that alone.

Sounds like the engine is a bit tired. When did it last pass the nct?

I used to get a lot of that on five-valve Yamahas. It sounds like worn valve-stem seals.

That was my thought as its only on a cold start and fine once warm. Just passed NCT. We're not overly happy with the car anyway so we're probably going to flog it again.
