Shares for child

My young lad has shown some interest lately in the workings of business and investment. I was going to purchase a few shares for him as a way of helping explain and keep his interest. He wants shares in companies he knows/likes. I am pretty sure he also wants to say he is part owner of said companies, examples would be Google and Disney.
I would like to receive an actual share certificate (if they still issue such things) and also prefer shares that receive a dividend, even if its only 5 cents a year.
Finally the two mentioned companies are out if my budget at least for now so looking to pick up a few cheaper shares.

Any advise on cheapest way to purchase these few shares and recommendations for shares to purchase would be much appreciated. Not looking to make a return on these, we will hold them for at least 10 years.

    Thanks in advance
