Tax refund after working in France for the Summer

    Hi,
I'm a university student working in France for two and a half months of the Summer to improve my French. I'm working full-time and I got my first pay slip two weeks ago. I'm on minimum wage but I'm paying a lot of tax, much more than I would be in Ireland. I don't know much about the French tax system and the different taxes I'm paying, so I was wondering if anyone with experience of having worked abroad or in France for a Summer would be able to tell me if I can claim tax back once I go back to Ireland? Also, are the taxes I'm paying to both Ireland and to France and would I have to claim the tax back here in France or in Ireland. Taxation is confusing enough in Ireland in my own language, so any help would be greatly appreciated on this.
    Thanks!

As you are resident in Ireland you are liable to pay tax in Ireland. However, France will have primary taxing rights on the income. Assuming France has some level of tax free allowance / tax credit system, you will most likely be able to reclaim a significant portion of the the tax paid to the French exchequer, however you will have to declare it on your income tax return in Ireland.
A credit will be allowed for tax paid in France on your Irish tax due

Hi, thanks for the help. So when I get back to Ireland I have to say how much I earned in France to the tax office and then I can try and claim some tax back? Would I have to go to the French tax office as well and could this be done online? Also, is it possible for both countries to tax me while I'm here as I haven't notified the Irish tax authorities that I'm here. Apologies for my lack of knowledge on both tax systems but I'm fairly new to this.

I suspect much of the French deductions are social insurance, rather than tax.

PRSI is 4% in Ireland, but way higher on the continent.
