time that you can appeal an infraction?

    quick question
    if i want to appeal an infraction do i have to do so before the infraction has ended?

    i am in contact with the mod in question and he said he would get back to me but the infraction ends in a few days (was a 10 day infraction, and i contacted him on the day of the infraction) and will have run its course and he hasn't addressed my appeal - should i open a thread in dispute resolution?
