    Hi!
I just got hospitality tickets for the Friday Racing at The Curragh- It starts at 5.30, Nathan Carter afterwards (just for context!).

Haven't been to many race days, but was wondering if the fact it's Friday evening means it's more casual? Or do you still wear the dress/heels/hat? Any different if you have the hospitality tickets (so indoors with table etc)

    Total novice:confused:

    Any help/advice much appreciated!!!

The Friday evening is part of the Derby Festival, so will be more formal than other evening meetings.

I'd recommend a nice dress or suit - something that is relatively formal, but still warm enough that you won't be frozen if you go outside or when you're leaving the racecourse - there's a cool wind on the Curragh, especially in the evening. You could always wear a nice coat or jacket over your dress, which could look really smart. Oh, and popping a pair of flats in your bag is always handy, especially if you've to walk a distance to the car/bus after! ;)

Thanks a million! So dress, heels and headpiece ok? I was worried about being too over-dressed amongst jeans and blazers!

The Friday will probably more casual. If your headpiece is small, you could always take it off and pop it in a bag! ;)

Just for context: I've gone to the Derby on the weekend and not worn a hat/headpiece. I wore a v dressy satin skirt with a nice top and a coat over it with a pair of heels.

Go all out if you like, and, in fairness, who doesn't like an excuse to get all dressed up ;), but you honestly don't have to wear the headpiece.
