    Hi,

Been having a lot of hassle with RAM as of recent with my laptop. It's a 2010 model and is well looked after. Using an app from the App Store, it's telling me I'm running at 90-95% RAM.

Anyone have any advice as to reduce this? Opening programs as simple as Google Chrome is painfully slow.

    Thanks in advance!

How much RAM does your machine have installed?

How is that a bad thing? What benefit is having free RAM? OS X is very good at managing its RAM usage and most people who mess around with it tend to paper over the real issue and end right back at square one before long.

Look at Activity Monitor. It will tell you what is using RAM and how much it is using. Chrome is also quite RAM heavy compared to Safari or Firefox.

The easiest way to improve your computers performance would be to upgrade the hard drive for an SSD. This will improve loading times of programs from disk into RAM and also improve multitasking as swapping in and out of RAM will be improved.
