Part-time after internship realistic?

    Hey,

I'm in the middle of an internship organised through school. My workplace is fantastic, and a really interesting field at a glance. So far my bosses and colleagues seem really happy and coherent with the work I do - they know I work hard, and notice I am intrigued with what they do. The work environment is really relaxed, and they get all their stuff done.

Unfortunately it's an internship with an expiry date. Is it realistic to offer an internship a part-time job? My colleagues in my department all have qualifications relating to the field - so it doesn't seem really realistic as I have no qualifications but maybe relevant skills and experiences.

The work I do isn't the stereotypical coffee and organising files. I feel like I'm adding to the department with the tasks they give me (which would seem time consuming for the people with qualifications).

Any thoughts? I'm planning to say "If you need any help, you know how to contact me" when I finish the internship.

I left a job once and sent an email to my line manager saying thank you for the opportunity and that I was only a phone call away if anything came up. I did get a phone call and ended up with another 9 months work. It won't hurt to ask.
