Ages ago I sorted out an issue where I was working two jobs, sub teacher and one in a store. My subbing could be here and there depending on work and I worked two days a week in the shop , so the shop job was the consistent one. I explained to revenue that I wanted my tax credits to mainly cover the shop job as I relied on that wage every week whereas I could weeks without subbing and if I was heavily taxed on the shop Id have no money at the end of the day.
it got sorted anyway, but this week, it reverted back to what happened ages ago and I was taxed on the shop job and got about 12 euros out of my wages which should have been around 70. I had worked one day the week before.
I rang up and was told that all my credits were on the teaching job so I switched them back, to cover my shop job and the remainder on my teaching, it just makes sense for now as I dont have a contract in teaching. I dont get paid for teaching for the summer so the shop job is my only income.

but basically as its summer Im coming into a busy period in the shop where I'll be working more than one day a week, possibly a lot, and the lady in revenue capped me at 175 per week which is about 25 hours. I dont think its enough as summer is their busiest period,

if I earn more than the 175 euro a week does that mean I'll end up with the same scenario of having 9 euro or a silly amount left again at the end of it, as I cant survive on this at all.
    Id appreciate any help.

As you're not teaching through the summer, why don't you get revenue to put all your credits into the retail position on a week 1 basis. When the teaching starts up again, split them again accordingly.

As soon as you get the 2 p60s early next year, you should send them off to revenue as you could well be due a refund.

thanks for the reply, well Ive put all my credits onto my shop job anyway and whats left goes a little to teaching, but Im just wondering what happens if I earn more than the cut off 175 a week, will I be taxed on what I go over or the whole wages and be reduced to 9 euro again

    Register for paye online.

Go to revenue.ie and the contact locator. Put in your pps number.

Weite to your local district which pops up explaining the situation.

Never rely on the phone. They are a total lottery and half are incompetent. Write and keep a copy of the letter.

Seeing as its the same customer service staff rotating between phones and correspondence, that doesn't really make much sense...

I think the point being made was that information in written correspondence carries more weight as it cannot be denied/contradicted like a verbal conversation over the phone.

Also, people tend to be much more careful about what they put in a letter, so you generally tend to get more accurate information in the first place than you might from somebody on the phone who's not 100% sure of a situation and decides to wing it a bit.

I don't think that switching tax credits from one job to another every few months will solve this for OP .
OP must remember that the standard rate cut off point is as important as tax credits especially with 2 jobs .

If it was me , I would contact the tax office and give them an estimate of total 2015 earnings in job no.1 and job no.2.

Then the tax office can allocate tax credits and SRCOP accordingly .

absolutely - this should be part of the conversation she has with revenue.
