Advice - Jag Xe or New Mondeo or...???

    Hi Folks,

For the last few months I have been reading great things about the new Jag XE and was thinking this would be my next car (hoping to own early next year).
However, I sat it in this morning and was pretty underwhelmed. It's pretty small - particularly the boot space and back seats. What surprised me most was when I sat into the car in the showroom, my head was solidly touching the roof - and I am only 5' 8"!!! I readjusted the seat back and it was better, but it didn't convince me at all and I start looking at the XF instead. However, with a new XF due next year, I don't really want to get the last of the current model unless I get a hell of a deal.

I think the new Mondeo looks great and heard great things about it, so this was the fall back option (I personally think Audi's & BMWs look too bland).

Budget wise, I am willing to go as high as 50k at a real push, but it wants to be a hell of a car. It doesn't have to be new - a year old is fine.

My desires are a good size (have kids), good power, and I do like the modern gadgets.
I'll probably keep it for 5-8 years.

Anyone able to offer their opinion on what would be worth looking at beyond the XE/XF & Mondeo?

    Thanks.

Not a premium brand but the new Skoda Superb is being launched next month. You will get a very good speced one with plenty of change left over from €50k. New Passat is available also but will cost a bit more for what is very similar to the Superb.

New Audi A4 is out later this year if you want to stick to Premium junior execs.

Mercedes have gone down the comfort route with the C-class try one ,

there's a road test of xe 3 series and c class in Car magazine this month.

However maybe a well specked Mondeo changed every two or three years might be a better proposition, ford are really on the ball these days and probably most reliable of all the brands .

Passat Highline definitely worth a look. New model is pretty premium-feeling, especially in Highline spec.

Wheres the new XE available to see Maceface - i really want to have a look at one.

New A4 pictures are out later this month. Car launches in November so that might be an option too for you potentially.

Had a look at the Jag XE today at Spirit Sandyford.
Very disappointing I thought. The rear looks very cramped and I didn't think the quality of some the interior was great. It needs bigger wheels I would say than the standard 17" to look any way right.
