i know there's probably a few threads on it, But I searched and can't find anything.

Vehicle currently on NI plates but has been previously registered in Ireland, How do I go about getting it back on it's precious Irish plate? (It's a Commercial 4x4)

Can't find anything on the VRT website, Anyone have a link to process and cost?

(It hasn't had a VRT rebate as it was changed over a few years ago)

Standard process of importing any vehicle afaik. You make an appointment for a VRT inspection via the NCT. The only difference this time is that there will be no VRT to pay as it was originally paid when the vehicle was first registered in Ireland. It should also be reissued it's original Irish reg number.

    Thanks.

Is there any admin fee to pay? VRT website is useless.

I want to be 100% sure about the process before I go ahead with it.

"I am importing a vehicle from another country that has previously been registered in Ireland. Do I have to re-register the vehicle?
A vehicle previously registered in the State and exported prior to the introduction of the Export Repayment Scheme on 8th April 2013, may not be liable to pay VRT. The previous Irish registration number may be reused, provided that the vehicle classification has not changed since its first registration in the State. The Motor Tax office should be contacted in these cases."

If it was a cat M1 passenger vehicle the time of export (converted to commercial after export) then the owner may have claimed a VRT refund when the car was exported from the State in which case VRT may be due on re-import.

    It is a Commercial 4x4.

    Has anyone previously done it?

Can't find any info on the NCT/VRT site other than contact nearest Center.
