electric Ireland no longer pay for electricity produced and sent back into the grid. Is there any way this will change? Is there anyway of making it change? What is
    wrong with this country?

Surely people should be encouraged to create power etc, can only make sense. There's not much online about the future of Ireland and producing electricity. I just bought a house and had planned to be as self sufficient RE electric, as I could afford, but now it doesn't make financial sense. So frustrating! Will it ever change?

    Thanks

There is a consultation process under way and a white paper promised for September this year which will deal with solar electricity and microgeneration. At the same time, there are other investors who would like to see the development of solar parks to supply solar power. There is a thread on this here.

It is broadly expected within the industry that the situation will improve, but not in the very short term.

The scheme that was there was only available to customers of Electric Ireland and was at their discretion. It would be better to see a scheme which was mandatory on all electricity providers, so what we end up with should be an improvement on where we were.

The big problem for electricity providers is that if you are producing your own power, you are, of course, buying less of theirs. :pac:
