In fact it looks like the old original timing belt in condition...

The timing belt was replaced two days ago and I have done maybe 20 miles since.

Could this be a new timing belt?

Here are some pics I took

Thats not the timing belt thats the alternator belt.

That's the auxiliary belt you have taken a picture of. You usually cannot see the timing belt as it drives parts of the engine.

The auxiliary belt usually runs the alternator, power steering pump and air con pump (if it exists).

    What car is it?

That's not a timing belt, that's your auxiliary belt.

Can never understand mechanics that don't replace the aux belt when doing a timing belt, for the sake of a few € especially when its in that condition.

Because they would be accused of scamming customers.

Mk1 ford focus petrol, I'll take guess its 1.4 because it doesn't have aircon

Nearly a hundred euro for set of belts for a focus.

He only needs the alternator belt http://www.micksgarage.com/proddetails.aspx?pid=1271364 Seems stupid to me to put that belt back on the engine for the sake of 20 odd euro...

Nearly a hundred euro for set of belts for a focus.

To be fair the stretch belts are now available from aftermarket suppliers and are much much cheaper than the Ford parts. A Gates stretch belt isn't a whole lot more expensive than a regular belt these days.

Tis a mk1 focus alright. Really hate that baby blue colour.

"Ye changed wha'? It's costin' me how much? I never asked ye to do da'! I'm not payin' for da'! Bleedin' rip off"

    Later, in the pub

"And den he says to me 'I changed your auxiliary belt.' I fückin told him where he could stick his auxiliary belt. Bleedin' rip off"

This is the why of the not changing of the belt
