I was thinking of buying that drill as my first drill for home use, but is the lack of a keyless chuck a deal breaker do you think?

I think the "hexagonal tool holder" will limit the amount of bit types you can use with it, im no expert though.

I was reading the following thread, and the Parkside brand seems to be held in high regard for home use, apparently more durable than other budget brands like challenge, black n' decker etc...

Another upside is that you can buy replacement batteries from Komkpernass:

If the lack of the chuck is a deal breaker I think i might wait til the next time lidl have an 18v drill in.

That's not a drill, it's an impact driver (a screwdriver with a hammer-like action to loosen stubborn screws/nuts). It's not for drilling holes and there's no drill in their current 15th June DIY offering.

    B&q 18v Makita 125
    18v lit ion 135)worth the 10r extra
Have had 6 between 3of us couldn't be better.
Dewalt 18v 135 haven't had one but are good from what I hear
Both Makita and Dewalt come with 2 batteries.

In my opinion they are the two best options

Haha, just shows how clueless I am!

So that explains the lack of a chuck!

    Thanks for the help guys.

Well, if anything, that link you provided with the batteries is useful to me, Ive a Parkside battery drill laying around that the battery died in.
I'll have to dig it out to check if some of the types shown match mine.

I got a Mac Allister battery drill in B&Q on some offer, Im sure the Makita and dewalt drills are good and if on a deal/offer then probably well worth it, but mine is 12v NiCd and does the job for anything I need it for DIY purposes, Im sure it was much cheaper.
For anything heavy I plug in my Black and decker mains wired drill, which I got on an offer in Argos years ago :).

Someone gave me a challenge drill from Argos, Id use it to stir some mix, thats about it, I put it under pressure once and smoke started to emanate from the innards :) and the drill bits bent.
