Hi guys, I just took out an insurance policy with boxymo, the car has no tax, I go onto the website, fill in my details, then it says 'Insurance Company:'. Boxymo aren't listed! In an email they sent me it says 'MCL Insurance Services Ltd, trading as boxymo.ie' They aren't listed either!
    Any ideas?

    Asgard? Wa?
There's a drop down list of insurance companies and I have to pick one.

Boxymo are a trading name of MCL insurance. Are they listed on the form?

The point made above is that there's no validation done against this. So you can just choose any insurer and put in nonsense for your insurance details. But seeing as you have it, no harm to include it.

What company name is on the insurance cert?

Nope MCL aren't there either, so you're saying I can just put any insurance company I like?
It wouldn't make my tax invalid or anything would it?

Haven't got any cert yet. I only took the policy out about an hour ago!

If Boxymo/MCL are only a broker, it wont be on the list. Check with company who are the insurer.
I don't know what happens if you put in the wrong details.

No, it won't make your tax invalid. It's tax, once you've paid it, it's valid.

Chances are you've bought insurance from someone through MCL. That insurer's name will be listed on the insurance cert, so you won't know who it is until you get the cert. So fnck it, just stick down whatever on the car tax form.

At worst, it might cause your car to get flagged by the APRN system, and you'll get pulled over once or twice. But once you have your insurance disc in the windscreen, you'll have no problems. You may even be able to update it later on with the department once you have the full details.

Fairly certain they're underwritten by AIG.
