Nearly there in what is the best flat meeting of the year.

What is your nap for it?

Personally im going with Sole Power in the Kings Stand @ 4-1. Fast 5, hopefully fast ground ran at a fast pace suits him to the bone. The field doesnt look as strong as other years also. He has had his prep on unsuitable ground so all looks good for this flier of a horse.

Forgotten rules. Haven't looked at the ratings but off hand I'd say he's top rated or in the top 3 or 4 anyway but if there are any likely higher in it it'll be Brown Panther or someone like that very exposed whereas this boys still only a relative baby and has bundles of improvement in him for experience and the step up in trip should help too. I'm thinking of having my biggest ever bet on the flat on this boy. Welds spoken very highly of him. Enough said.

Yeah heard him say something like he wont run if the goings too quick. I'd say he just wants to make sure to get a bit of watering done. But Weld is a strong willed man and if he does think its too quick he'd withdraw him on the day no problem. That's why i haven't him backed already.

Mecca's Angel in the Kings Stand if the ground is on the soft side.

Failing that, I cannot see anything beating Round Two in the Coventry.

No doubt I'll also be having my usual bet on American Hope in whatever handicap he shows up in.

Also have an Ante Post bet on Mizzou at 14/1 in the Gold Cup who was very impressive in the Sagaro and looks a potential staying star in the making.

I have 50 on at 4/1 so hope he runs.

Also cannot wait to see log out island again in the coventry as he looked special at ascot on his debut.

Ignore that side its just what procr people are looking to get. Some lads trying their luck.

The Prince of Wales is the one ive been looking at. I thought Cannock Chase was going to be my bet but 11-1 seems to be a be a bit on the short side. Fancy him to run a big race might he tempted yet if the field cuts up and the price is right.

For now though I think The Grey Gatsby is the standout bet at 8-1. He seems to be priced up based on his two below par runs this year, particularly his defeat last time out. Kevin Ryan gave the impression pre race that TGG was well undercooked though and that was nowhere near his running last year. Just announced earlier that he is Moores choice which should dent his price a bit in the coming days.

In my eyes TGG should be favourite, have no idea what Free Eagle is doing at the top of an Antepost market. Would go for a whopping e/w bet but Ladbrokes are only going 1/5 123 so settled on a biggish win punt. If anybody is getting on id advise you to do it in the next couple of days, 8-1 is going to be gone soon id be sure.

Why ignore it? It means that nobody is requesting any other odds which would suggest that he's an unlikely runner.

I heard Wesley ward is bringing over a coolmore horse for the Coventry who is meant to be useful but I don't know it's name, was mentioned on ruk

I cant think off my head who this horse is but he's the horse I've heard most about on racing forums when people are discussing bankers and ones to swerve and this boys in both sides it seems. Is he a french animal or have i just a blank spot in my head for him and will cop him when he races?

    Just matched at 25.0.

Someone certainly thinks he's not running.

Now that's a bot more disconcerting for ante post punters. Hopefully still turns up and group d worries get me a nice 5/2 :p

Lucida at 7/2 looks the bet of the meeting.

Night Of Thunder is a value bet in the Queen Anne stakes where the souped up Solow is a worthy favourite, can't take Able Friend's flat track bully form as seriously as others do.

The St James Palace stakes is a match between Make Believe and Gleneagles, I'll be on which ever one is the bigger price as they are well matched with Make Believe's superior looking form being matched by the Giant's Causeway like winning streak ability of Gleneagles.

The Prince Of Wales stakes is a hugely competitive event with any amount of maybe horses. Can't have most of them including TGG who looks like a horse with mental problems and would pare the field down to California Chrome and Free Eagle with Free Eagle looking more suited to Ascot than CC should be. Free Eagle has a bit to prove, but he's a nice enough price for my liking.

Have you read wesley wards comments on this horse in his atr stable tour, high high praise, i managed to get 16/1 and then 12/1 but bookies have cut this one to 6/1 today and could go off favourite.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 180 ✭✭kalinisi

Not exactly a nap but $1e/w antepost lucky 63

AROD Queen Anne 12/1, will love the quick ground, looked good at epsom to me and while probably playing for a place theres plenty of improvement in him

MUTHMIR King Stand 5/1, just love this fella , loads of speed, good attitude when off the bridle, has to go close.

RIZEENA Windsor Forest 7/1, poor race, Integral to one to beat but she's a serious filly on good to firm ground over a mile

TRIP TO PARIS Gold Cup 12/1, improving handicapper, ran well at sandown last time, can see the fav coming out and brown panther didnt stay last year so might sneak a place

POSTPONED Hardwick 4/1, crying out for a mile and half, telescope will be hard to beat but this lads improving

MUSTAJEEB Diamond Jubilee 6/1, another horse i just love, loads of speed, good attitude like Muthmir, and Smullen on board should be on the premises

Will pay over $500k when all 6 win next week.......

Wouldn’t be rushing to back Finnegan. I’ve an American connection and backed him first time out as he is very highly thought of. Ran well but put in his place by a 2yo that’s not in the Top Ten in that trainers yard. Switched to turf for second run and won a nothing race easily.

Ward’s 2yo fillies are far better than his colts this year. He has an aeroplane called Moment Is Right who hasn’t made the trip but is one to watch for the Breeders Cup.

Think John Ward's brother Ray has a great chance in the Ascot Stakes Tuesday. Backed him at 12/1 now clear 8/1 fav

Integral, having ran with credit when a close 4th against the colts fto in a decent Lockinge should be much too classy in a weak looking Duke of Cambridge. Arod and Top Notch Tonto from it have won well since. Also, Ivawood should be ideally suited by 7f on fast ground in Jersey with Hughes confidently writing in Today's RP that it will win. I know he's always bullish but the horse should have those behind covered and PP's 5/2 earlier today was very fair IMO.

Have switched my NAP to Buratino in the Coventry on Tuesday now that he's a confirmed runner & will be carrying the godolfin blue colours. He absolutely destroyed a decent looking field on derby day lto in the Woodcote, a race that is the target for 2yr olds with aspirations for greater things later in the season. Visually, he was very impressive, stretching clear by 6L going away. The fact he's running in the blue colours given they already have a few closer to the top of the market suggests he may be a little overpriced. Not sure of the irish form but he'll do for me. Still some 9's left with PP.

Great shout. I had been hugely impressed by Buratino at Epsom, visually one of most impressive performances I have seen in recent years, but had not realised he due to run today until this post. Backed with PP this morning at 10/1.
