So BT have exclusive rights in the UK for the Champions League and Europa League next season.
Anyone know the situation re ROI? Has RTE lost the Wed night champions league games or has that been decided yet?
I see Setanta have confirmed the new channel -BT Sport Europe - will be available here on their package and will show all the games. I presume that means that the current situation where Europa League games on BT are blocked in the Republic of Ireland will not happen next season?

It was announced a few weeks ago that RTÉ and TV3 will continue to show a game every week.

    Discussion thread is here:

    http://m.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057060299&page=21

    Summary:
Setanta have exclusive rights to the UEFA Europa League and rights to show all games in the UEFA Champions League.
TV3 has rights to the UEFA Super Cup and free choice of one game in the UEFA Champions League on each Tuesday night
RTE has rights to the UEFA Champions League final and free choice of one game on each Wednesday night.

Ftakeith alludes to BT Sport Showcase, a FTA channel which is launching on Freeview (UK DTT) which will carry some UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League games free to air but it is not yet known if it will be on satellite - if it is, it is unlikely to be on the Irish EPG.

Unless there is some satellite specific aspect people wish to discuss Id rather discussion continue in Broadcasting

BT Sport Showcase will be shown on Freeview, EE TV and Youview to show the CL and EL matches for free.

The channel will be shown in standard definition only.
