Prescription Flouride Toothpaste

I just have a quick question and not looking for medical advice.

I was prescribed Duraphat 5000 from my dentist as I'm prone to cavities, and reading about the benefits of prescription toothpaste, I'm happy to use it.

My question is about kids being prescribed toothpaste. I have kids, 10 & 12 years old. Would a dentist consider prescribing flouride toothpaste to kids that age? My youngest had quite a few problems with cavities. I don't want them to have problems with their teeth like I have.

I'll need to book an appointment with my kids dentist, but I'm just wondering if this would be something they'd consider? Would it be common for pediatric dentists to prescribe this to older children with dental problems?
    Thanks in advance :)
