Would be grateful for advice on this situation! At the min we have a stove which is on its last legs , it puts our very little heat and is not connected to a back boiler so does not heat rads. We want to get a new stove but are undecided what to do. We only have six rads to heat(small house) 5 singles& 1 double. Our oil boiler(burner??) Is also on its last legs and probably wont last another winter.

So the question is.. go with a new stove with back boiler to heat six rads or get a new oil boiler thingy and just put a stove in to heat the room its in..
    thanks in advance.

Have you the option to go with natural gas?

No option for natural gas :-( im at a loss what to do. Everyone is telling me the back boiler job is the way to go but its a really small house.. just very unsure!

Me personally I'd go with a a new oil boiler and heating controls. I'd even consider going with Calor or flogas because your house is so small and that would suit a modern gas boiler as they modulate their output down to meet the requirements of the house. An oil boiler won't.

It's hard to do without the convenience of oil for early mornings or to have coming on if everybody is out working.

You never mentioned insulation. It's always worth reviewing this too. Often there is too much focus on heat sources and little on retaining the heat that is produced.

Thanks for the replies. It would be well insulated it does retain heat well when its heated .We dont have cavity walls, we have solid brick walls that we wouldnt be able to pump them with insulation. I just dont think i can face another cold winter!!

Then get an oil burner in and decent controls.
