Stag for Father in Law to be?

    Hi,

My wife's mother is getting married and its been suggested that I help the best man arrange a 'stag'. The best man lives abroad and may not be able to make it.

My father in law to be is 60+. Into golf, music, food etc but still up for a few beers and a bit of craic.

Any suggestions on places that would fit the bill?

Not the usual stag parties I normally frequent!

    Thanks

I'd say your best bet would be a round of golf, a meal in a decent restaurant after and adjourning to a pub for beers afterwards.

Can't see the more usual karting/paintball/nightclub being the done thing here and if a visit to the strip club is to be on the cards, I'd leave it up to his mates to organise on the night/weekend

What about a few days in Scotland? Ye could play a round or two of golf, tour a few distilleries and have a few nights in some very nice country pubs.

Not sure about getting everyone to Scotland, but the distillery idea is an excellent one as he's a big whiskey fan. :D Is Jameson in Dublin any use, or would we be better heading up North to bushmills or anywhere else in Ireland with a good one to visit and taste?

I've never been to either the Jameson or Bushmills distilleries which is shameful given than I've lived in both Dublin and Coleraine. Just a thought though. What about Cork? Middleton Distillery would be worth a visit I'd think.

Jameson is an excellent tour. You can even bottle and sign your own at the end. Good momento for the groom to be

Riverrun Cottages/Paddy's Bar in Terryglass could be a good option. They cater for stag parties with lots of options including Golf.

    What about Midleton?

Couple of decent golf courses in the vicinity and the Whiskey Experience is excellent.......

EDIT: apologies, just saw ACD's post :)

    There's also the Kilbeggan Distillery

Closer to Dublin and good golf in the area. I'd recommend Esker Hills or Mullingar (or both!)

And the new Tullamore Dew distillery is open too.

Spoke to the main man today and he loves Bushmills so we'll probably go there and maybe stay in Portrush? Thanks for all the suggestions folks
