Lost ADSL dialup in house

Bit of a strange problem here. Ever since a lightning storm, i can no longer get a broadband ADSL connection from any of the phone points in the house. The only point that works is the one directly installed by Eircom.
Phone connection works in all the points, but the modem fails to connect.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should start looking? I've taken the panels off the phone points - the wires look all secure and none appear to be burnt out.

Is the eircom socket a double one? Thats the way its meant to be then.

Originally it was a single. Eircom engineed swapped it for a double when I reported the problem to him. He said it wouldn't have any impact on the rest of the internal sockets.

Do I need to replace the internal ones with doubles as well?

Nope. Leave the modem at that socket. All other sockets will have dial tone but only the tech install has DSL. This is optimum for broadband and will give you the best possible connection for your line.

Sorry, maybe I should have been clearer in the description of the issue. I want to move the modem to one of the other points, so I can get better wifi coverage. Where it is at the moment does not provide great coverage, even with range extenders.

    Then you can:

    A. Run cat5 from the main to where you want the modem terminated with rj11 connectors.

    B. Undo the full install and risk a rather large call out fee if eircom come back.

    Or just buy homeplugs.

Homeplugs aren't giving me the connection speeds.
Seems strange that I have phone line on all the internal sockets, but not DSL

    Its by design.
