Not sure whether this right here, or should it be in buying.

Just wondering if anyone has driven one of these and of so what are they like?

Driven a 110ps version and it was pretty decent. Local enough journey but it felt quite pokey, just missing something a bit higher up the rev range, so the 136 might be better when pushing on.

It is quiet for a diesel, but it's far from a whisper. Hell of a lot better than the 1.7's it's replaced, as far as driveability - no gaping chasm in the torque curve now.

New model is due soon...I'd hold off if buying new.

Yes, late this year or early next year.

If that's the new model I don't like it, Interior wise, I like my 3 cup holders only shows that black cover thingy which I don't like very plasticky looking, Button handbrake? As I don't see the normal one, was told by Opel garage that they had done away with the button handbrake due to safety issues, I loved in my 2011 Astra but it's not in my current one.

Think I might leave Astra if that is the new model :(

Mine is the 1.7cdti, I had the 2011 version aswell and loved it so much I just went up in the years. Love the driving seat, not a fan of it in the insignia, Full tank lasts 2 weeks, €200 tax for the year, test drive one and find out if you like it.

Yeah, hoping to test drive the 136 one, but they don't have one. I may just test drive the regular one and accept that if I like it, the other will just be a bit more powerful

Don't. Ask the dealer to enquire from other Opel dealers about the higher power version availabilty.

Dealers frequently swap new cars. I've found a few cars that way.

You should negotiate a significant discount for a model which is due to be replaced shortly.

From reading reviews that model Astra is a very heavy car.

The new model from reading a review last week has lost weight.

I'd be surprised if Opel have 136ps demo's anywhere. We've got an SRI Limited Edition Astra here on demo at the moment, few extra's fitted, but it's only the 110.

Much prefer this than the 1.7 130 version.

Didn't realise it was a demo he was after.

The higher power versions of the Ford Focus 1.6TDCI are pretty rare also.

He's looking to test drive a 136ps version before pulling the trigger on ordering one (or that's my take on it).

OP - don't take too long in making a decision if you want one soon. 136ps model will probably be a factory order, and I think Opel close the factory for the whole of August.

If ordered soon it should get production before the factory closure and be available in August. If you leave it too long it won't be built until September then September / October delivery.

That's exactly what I am hoping to do. Asap. There doesn't seem to be any demo models of the 136bhp astral anywhere. One of the dealers is trying to source one for me.
This has been forced upon me, so don't have time to hang around. Opel cost to change is pretty good at the minute, I think that's because of the new model coming out.
Personally I like the look of the current astra.
The other car I am looking at is the Mazda 3 . Lovely car to drive, excellently specced out. But I want to test drive the Astra. Don't like any other cars in the class. So it's down to one of this two.

Thanks again for all your replies folks. As always boards is invaluable.
