Need to top up my oil with an extra litre. Local shop only has Magnatec 5w40. Service was done using Edge 5w40. Is there any issue in mixing these that anyones aware of?

I'd have no issue with it once they meet the manufactures spec.

    I wouldn't mix them.
Edge is different technology to Magnatec.

    What car is that?

It is ok to use a different type of oil in a top up situation. The sump capacity on your car is 4.6L. Assuming worst case scenario where you need to top up a full 1L it will only constitute to about 21% of the total oil volume. In real life you will be adding more like 0.5L which makes it even less significant. As long as it is of the same viscosity and grade (C2 or C3, or A5 or A5) the engine will be happy. Simply change to a new oil at next service interval.

Just ordered 4 litres of this off Micks garage instead. Seems a great price at the minute. This is the current oil in it which is out of stock there also. Judging by the specs I think the other one may have replaced it as there doesn't seem to be an obvious difference in spec. Seems a great price at the minute.
