My DOE (CRW) test was due in July last year. If I get a test done this month and it passes will it be valid for a year from the date I get the test done or will it get back dated? Thanks.

afaik you will get a cert up to the next anniversary (ie 12 months from due date. After the anniversary you would get a 6 month cert

It's 6 months cert once the old one is expired.
They got me with an old landy that was out of test nearly 1 year, 6 months cert for 110 odd quid is pretty dear

    This appears to be incorrect....

In the case of a cert expired by more than 12 months, you will get a 6 month cert and the next cert will run only to the anniversary of the regstration. If it's less than 12 months you'll get a cert to the next anniversary date,

...so with my reading of it, in October you'll get a cert only to January

In my case my Camper is due back on the road very shortly after a year almost in the bodyshop. The CVRT ran out 4th July last year, so I shall be waiting until 4th July to test it and expect a 6 month cert, if I test it now, I'll only get a cert to 4 July. At least that's what I think, but do they take the date of first reg here or in the UK where it came from?

If you get it tested this month it will be valid until July 2015, basically all you will get is 1 months test.

We have the same issue with used trucks we sell that hve been in stock with the test expired, what we do is test the truck and get a 6 or 7 month test, them retest it the next day and get a 12 month test

Handy money for the testing company having to test twice, system is unfair that way in having vehicles in forecourts.

In the case of my camper I'll get 6 months test in July.... I'm not going to be testing it in January when it's not in use, but it will still be taxed so there's not a lot of chance I'll be testing it again until the following July...so they may as well just give me twelve months in the first place. I know the reasoning behind it, but an exception should be made for campers which spend most of the year idle.

Why don't you declare your camper off the road instead of paying road tax and not using it?

That's what I don't know. My DOE tester told me to get it in in September and it will get a full 12 months then.

because you can only get Annual tax on Campers (and Classics), so if I tax and test it the test eill run 6 months and the Tax 12.....someone hasnt thought about it

not as far as I know...if the test is out they back date to the last due date, so you'll get 12 months from then If it's out a year in Sept you'll only get 6 months.

Road tax is very handy, the cost of a test and tax for a year is less than what a commercial user pays.

It was only converted from passenger to N1 in April so it's just had its first DOE.

The test is actually €4 more I beleive as there is a Camper surcharge. The tax is less but in terms of € per day of use it is actually much much more in most cases.

I don't really see much point in comparing campers to commercials. They only get lumped in on the CVRT as they couldn't cope with them in the NCT
