Magic Eye stopped working!

This has been driving me crazy over the last few days trying to figure out what's happened. Magic eye is still receiving power (red light is still on). RF output still enabled on Sky box. Picture is coming through, but I can't access any of the menu items using the remote, or change channels. I've checked all the connections and they seem fine. I've also swapped out the magic eye with a different one and still no joy.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Presumably you've ruled out a problem with the remote itself, it still controls the Sky box directly without any issues?

Yep it's possible, I've one that doesn't work unless I'm 2" in front of it. You'll need a new one. I found recently between eyes and remotes, ur wasting ur time buying "genuine" ones online for €10. I'll be forking out the extra few quid from now on.

Had that happen a few times on an 'old' sky box (non hd) - unplug and restart got it back working. Didn't figure out why, but I had a separate video-sender thingy which also did remote via infrared to its own IR transmitter which sat in front of the sky box (not really related to the magic eye itself), and since I've gotten rid of that out of the equation it doesn't appear to be happening since (not sure how there could be any connection but i'm just reporting the experience). Anyhow, PITA but a complete power off - as in remove the power cable, wait a short while and plug it back in - did the trick as far as I can recall. Hope that helps.

Yup, remote works fine on the TV and when I'm directly in front of the box.

ok, good to know. Did your faulty one still have the power indicator working, or did it not work at all?

Thanks. I'm going to give that a go before looking for a replacement. Did you just disconnect the power to the box, or did you disconnect the TV end as well?

Box only. Complete power off by removing the cable at the back (a 'soft' power off via the power button on the front didn't work).

Yes it looks fine, i actually thought it was something to do with interference from sun rays but then i thought, this hasnt happened before, so i just got an eye from another room and its working perfect.
