Do they normally have good sales?

Not in my experience. Usually just a select few bits that for myself, never tickled my fancy.

Usually ten or twenty items are well reduced - but if you dont need a sofa or whatever, then it is no use to you. But for somebody starting to furnish a place, it will be worth waiting a week or so.

Good to hear its not that great as I just spent €500 out there at the weekend only to see the sale signs on the door as you exit after paying!! :(

If its flatpack, just hold off assembling until you see the sale deals. If there's a good saving to be had just return items for a refund and purchase again ;)

It's 10% extra off sale prices if you are a FAMILY member.

Or go and buy at the cheaper price, then immediately return using the old, higher priced receipt - savings and use of the product immediately

I know in the last sale some of Billy bookcase range was reduced significantly. Worth keeping an eye on that if you are looking for storage.

Jeez, it really does. A handful of remaindered odds and ends in each department.

I've a mate just after buying a house and he was hoping to drive up from Limerick and fill a van. I can't see him bothering now, tbh.

We need a new double bed. How small is 180 x 200 compared to a standard double?

Its significantly larger, its a superking / whatever ever other term is used. King is 150x200, Double 135x200 or very similar figures.

I've never been to an ikea sale and am potentially needing a couple of sofas and beds in the next month due to moving house.

I was in IKEA tonight and they had some stuff on the floor marked down, but not the sale items like the MALM bed.

How does it work? Do they magically appear on the floor and you take down their details and go pick them up?

Surely the full list of items that are on sale won't appear until the 12th and will be a bit bigger than the 20 or so items listed so far.

Can anyone point me in the direction of what might be on sale on the website? Or is it only instore that items are discounted? Apart from the red banner across the website advertising the sale I can't seem to see any of the reduced items.:o:confused:

It's not very well done from the website perspective but you should be able to see them all here - http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/store/dublin/sale
It doesn't seem anything else was added from the earlier links in email.

Email I got two days ago says:
The IKEA Dublin summer sale starts on 12th June, all offers are valid in store only and whilst stocks last.
Wishing I lived closer to Ikea.

IKEa a short drive for me, but weekend in IKEA is mental. As someone said above, Billy bookcases and storage usually have a few quid off and are excellent.

I've tended to pickup a piece here and there over the sales to kinda expand out my PC room, with nice storage solutions.

Last time out got the below for €25, and then picked up two plastic red bins
    http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/catalog/products/70307493/#/60275812

I use it to store my PS4 on top left, books and graphic novels on top right, and then the bins are on the bottom two slots for just general storage of cables and stuff.

I also picked up this for €25 during a sale
    http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/catalog/products/90277145/#/50277147

Pretty much sorted my PC,PS4 and PS3 games in terms of storage. And had space to boot to store some funko pops (two fit per shelf)

We have a Billy bookcase downstairs holding our DVDs,Blurays etc, and it is incredible storage.
I wanna say its this one, although we paid only like €45 from memory

Word of warning, measure the additional shelves out if you want more. We bought an extra shelf, the one that was advertised, and it turned out to be the wrong one. Still sitting at home in the back room gathering dust :)

Good point, they changed the basic size of the Billy bookcases last year and cleared out all the old stock - can't remember if it was just the depth of the units that changed, but I think the newer doors don't fit the older units.

Love those Kallax units that you bought. They are so versatile.

I see that IKEA increased prices across a range of products just as the sale started. A chair I was interested in jumped €10 and a lamp by €5. Not much overall, but to put up prices on their other products as they start a sale is bad form.

It's a joke calling it a sale. Only an odd thing here and there reduced. Like what you would see in a bargain bin.(last bits of things ) not like sales in most shops where everything or most things are reduced
