Well, what in yer opinion is the best or a very good calf dehorner? Gas or plug in type - I'm not fussy that way. Just want a good reliable one.
    Any ideas.

There's no comparison between the gas loaded ones such as portosol and buddex Vs the gas barrel and electric types. The latter being pure shyte.

Have a Portasol 3 Gas dehorner here a few years. Very happy with it.

Have a gas buddex one with 4 or 5 years and find it mighty. Cost 180 when I bought it, think it was 200 the last day I seen them in the co op.

Thanks lads. Had a look around for them today and all I can get is one called EXPRESS, it's a bulky yoke and costs €190. Anyone use or seen them in action.

I wouldn't dish all electric ones.

I've no idea of the brand but our electric one is a fair job.

We plug it in 15 minutes before using, it remains plugged in during use as this stops heat being conducted out.

We did extend the lead to facilitate keeping it plugged in during use.

Think I saw a portosol in a co op for 90 quid. Great value.
