there may still be the glass/metal/etc. which caused the original puncture stuck in the tyre, and is puncturing the new tube when it is inflated.

If there is nothing embedded in the tyre that is re-puncturing the tube, check the the valve hole in the wheel rim isn't sharp and cutting the tube and deflating it.

oh, and if you do take the tyre off to check this, visual inspection first - don't run your hand around the inside of the tyre.

did you try turning off the cap lock???

Hi guys did all the above. Since new tube fitted air stays in tyre for less than 2mins.
Oh and there never was a puncture. Just air getting out.

It might be an just a bad batch of tubes and/or and incompetent fitter. Get a decent brand tube and fit it yourself, or at another shop. If that fixes it, then the problem is the former.

The fact the tyre goes down means there is an airleak or puncture, put the wheel in a kids paddling pool with a few drops of washing up liquid and look for bubbles, if no bubbles at all, then suspect someone is letting the air out deliberately

    Oops wrong post quoted

Find out where the air is coming out of the tube. The shape of the hole will tell you what caused it. Two slits: pinch flat. One slit or pinprick: they're in the walls. Ragged hole: badly seated tyre or badly fitted rim tape. No hole: faulty valve.

240 for a new bike is very cheap. Too cheap. Its suggests they used very cheap tubes on it. Swap one for a good quality tube. At least you will have gained a spare tube.

Or just return it to the shop and let them fix it.
