So I will bring this to the garage next week but hoping to brace myself for the outcome at the advice of some of you guys here please!

I have a 2008 Focus, and had a new clutch and flywheel fitted about 18 months ago (apparently a common need in this model). In the last few months there has sometimes been a sour smell outside the car, which I'm told could be the clutch. However in the past few weeks the car has- intermittently and not that often- had periods where the steering wheel and (at least it seems) the car itself shakes, shudders or chugs while driving. It seems to be regardless of gear or speed and slowing down is the same at these times. On about three separate occasions I have heard a strange screeching sound which seems to be outside the car (not necessarily under the bonnet but hard to tell); this is not when touching any particular pedal but happens more when driving slowly, like around a car park. Just this week the car feels slow to pick up speed on inclines also.

The strange thing is that I'll then have weeks where the car feels pretty normal again! But definitely need it checked- any suggestions on how bad this could be? Is it likely to be that I got a dodgy clutch and need the whole thing replaced yet again?! (I really hope not!) Thanks for any advice!!
