Thanks to a ridiculous decision from the Sligo Chamber of Commerce, Homestore + More in Sligo are selling off ALL kitchenware at half price.

    Knive sets, pots, pans, everything!

eh a Chamber of Commerce makes absolutely no decisions on retail whatsoever.

Possibly you are thinking of Sligo CoCo planning and An Bord Pleanala who confirm that there is a planning restriction on the types of goods that can be sold in retail parks - this was very clear from the outset and restrictions like that protect the choice of shopping in an area.

Homestore tried to get this changed but failed, they tried again and failed. An Bord pleanala also ruled against them.

They gambled, they lost and now they are obeying the decision and clearing out the product lines that contravene the planning conditions. Advantage for local consumers is good prices on current stock.

That article is 2 years old and says the shop is Homecare and More and they are in hands of receivers.

Homestore and More made 5 million odd last financial year. Confused now!

    Obvious editor's mistake, I'd say. :)

Local papers = crap writing and they rarely check facts.

It was homestore & more, but it is the retail park that was in receivership, not any of the stores there.

Issue came to a head last year in high court and ruling was against homestore

Planning conditions are there for a reason and must be adhered to.

Does this mean that when the half price pots and pans are gone they're definitely gone?
