NCT boot question

    Hi,

I haven't been able to find a thread that answers this so started a new one.
I'm due to have an NCT shortly on a Mazda 2. The boot no longer opens using the button on the exterior. I can only access it by taking down the back seats.
Is this a reason for failure of the NCT?
It seems to be a common problem but the solution costs about GBP£60 if I fit it myself or more in a garage. I'd rather not bother unless I need to as I never use the boot.
    Thanks for any help.

    Where's the spare wheel?

Edit doesn't matter spare wheel is not a fail

Yes a fail is very likely:
1 Primary structural components broken, cracked, insecure, damaged or rusted to an advanced stage.
2 Secondary structural components missing, insecure, rusted or damaged to such an extent as to leave sharp edges.
3 Body not sitting squarely due to distortion.
4 Bonnet or boot catches defective or bonnet safety catch missing or defective.
5 Bumper, bull guards, body strips insecure.
6 Permitting the entry of fumes from engine or exhaust.

Even if they didn't fail the catch because the boot is secure they're still likely to fail because the tester can't easily check the boot floor for corrosion.

Yeah, it's a fail. Same as a door not being able to open.

Ya the boot on my last car wouldn't open.
Just had to do a visual when i got it fixed. Didn't have to pay for a retest. Just show him it was fixed. Then he gave me the cert.
