Recommend me a petrol estate car

    Afternoon all :)

I'm looking to buy an estate car in the near future and not having much luck finding one that ticks all the boxes on my wishlist.

I want an estate car because we have a few dogs including a big golden retriever so easy access to the boot is a must,

My commute is a short 15 min drive (10 mins of that on dual carriageway) so I don't think a diesel will make any sense and cause me trouble in the long run?

I'm definitely looking for a nice bit of poke and something that is reasonably fun to drive.

I will be buying on PCP but i'd be hoping to keep the car for 4-5 years

    Wishlist
    • Price 30k or less
    • Petrol engine
    • 140bhp or more

Any advice or ideas would be much appreciated!

    Cheers

Honda Civic Tourer 1.8 auto is starting at a shade under €30k ex works - 142bhp.

Skoda Octavia Combi 1.4 Tsi Elegance at just under €28k ex works - 140bhp.

Toyota Auris Touring Hybrid 1.8 auto Huxury at just under €30k ex works - 136bhp.

Not alot else available newish that fits your criteria I'm afraid.

I have the 1.4 TSI Ambition on my shortlist, was speaking to the dealer the other day, the 1.4 TSI has been bumped up to 150bhp and is now €27360 OTRP the spec has been increased as well (He mentioned the Ambition now includes parking sensors and cruise control)

Currently it's looking like the best option.

I had the 1.8 TSI Seat Leon ST FR on my shortlist but it just got discontinued due a lack of interest.

This country's obsession with diesel is unbelievable, surely everyone can't be doing the mileage required to make a diesel pay for itself and to avoid the issues caused by frequent short journeys?

Was about to suggest a Leon fr 180

New 308 sw 130bhp 1.2 would come in well within budget. Residuals are bound to be poor though.

Skoda superb 1.4 tsi would be in budget too. Old model though.

Gone just this week unfortunately :(

Rang a dealer earlier and he said it was the first time he'd ever even been asked about it :pac:

Wish I did the mileage to justify the diesel FR as I test drove it and it was a lovely drive, looks great and has a good standard spec.

As it stands the only petrol engines available in the Leon are the 1.2 TSI 110bhp and 2.0 TSI 280 Bhp Cupra
