Seat belt gone

    2002 audi a4 car very had light damage and one seat belt tightened up on it, airbag light is on, how can i get the belt to slacken up

    Belt probably has to be replaced, they have a pretensioner which is a small explosive charge that tightens the belt in an accident.
    Once that goes off the belt is rendered unusable.

    thanks, so all i need is a second hand belt and fit...are they difficult to replace

    You will need the seatbelt plus the pre-tensioner if it's separate. Plus you will need to ensure the new pre-tensioner hasn't been 'fired'. Not all that difficult to replace, but you need to disconnect the battery first.

    Happened to me an hour before the nct. I was pulling out all the rear seat belts in my zafira and the belt that's built into the middle row clicked but then wouldn't extend back out. Was priced €220 for the belt but ended up buying the middle row of seats with the seat belt in it for €50. Plus a retest of course

    Depending on the car you will have to reset the airbag ecu or replace it. On some they are single use only

    Different thing though, yours just malfunctioned. OPs did what it was supposed to do in a crash.
