    I have a 28 year old goldfish, she's in a 20,000litre pond.

Bowls are torture chambers and the sooner theyre banned as cruelty devices the better.

What is your ammonia level? Sounds like the water is less than ideal.

I dont know tbh, its only a small 20l tank, i just changed a bit of the water and they are grand now again

They're far from grand in a tank approximately 5% of the size of what they should be kept in.

Two goldfish in a 20l tank won't last more than a few months at most.
