    Hey everyone,

Just looking for some advice on a sever seater. Budget is at absolute max 8k + My car trade in.

What i find is if i look at a 12k car im being offered 5k for my trade in where as if i look at a 16k car im offered 8k - 8.k for my car.

Kinda hooked on the idea of getting either a Ford S-Max or a Galaxy but having a hard time finding a good one. Had found one but a dishonest dealer about the car havin write off history has turned me off giving them any money.

Anyone think there are other cars i should be considering given the budget?

Currently have a c4 Picasso, just not the 7 seater version and wouldn't be mad on getting another citroen to be honest.

Had a look at the vw tours and saran but neither look to have the spec of the fords and the price is higher generally

Nissan Qashqai plus 2 would be my suggestion.
    I wouldn't touch anything French.

Lol, the Nissan Qashqai is more French than it is Japanese. ;)

If you where willing to wait until later in the year the new smax will be out. There maybe more second hand stock coming about as a result.

Yeah i had thought about that. Issue is kid number 4 will be along in about 4 - 5 weeks so thats my timeframe to get a 7 seater.

Hadnt considered the mazda 5 so looking up some reviews of that now, cheers.

I have a Mazda 5 and it's a good car. It's not a big one though and is accurately described as 6+1. The interior is well designed and very flexible but very little luggage space if the 6 main seats are in use. You wouldn't fit a weekly shop in.

Most 7 seaters have limited rear storage space if all the seats are in use.

Gonna throw this one out there again (speaking as an owner) have you considered the Honda FR-V? Its only a 6 seater, and if your oldest is big enough to sit in the front centre seat then it might do a job for you. 3 good size rear seats and a good sized boot.

Walked passed a 10D Picasso recently, and the owner was having difficutley starting it. An S max or a Qashqai would me my choice or slightly older, an Avensis Verso.

Mazda 5 fairly much the same as Ford Grand CMax sliding doors etc. I have a cmax and they are great but if you have 4 kids in the back you are not going to have buggy space unless you use the front seat which I think is far from ideal from a safety point of view.

I have a 07 Galaxy , recently I ve noticed that the temp gauge is only going to around 75 and not middle way to 90 . When driving at a reasonable speed it crosses over 75 but when you ease back it drops back .
    Anyone got any ideas ?

I would go for the S-Max or Galaxy. I am on my second S-Max and have 4 kids. Galaxy has slightly bigger boot with all seats up but I prefer looks of S-Max. Both have three individual second row seats so you can fit thee child seats or boosters without skinning your knuckles doing up the seat belts. Some other 7 seaters only really have 2 1/2 seats in second row. Also boot in S-Max/Galaxy is still able to take a buggy, shopping etc with six seats up. You should be able to get a 08/09 reg within your budget.

Test drove them all ,went for the VW Touran in the end, it is the best laid out and spacious of them all, we recently drove around Ireland in it and it was very comfortable and 1.6 diesel is highly economical . Might not be as highly polished on the outside as some of the rest of them but it is the best designed.
