I like -- nay -- love beer. But I'll be honest, when I first heard about Fizzics and its promise to deliver the perfect pour of tap-quality beer from any can or bottle I dismissed it. It seems like the sort of silly snake oil you'd find in SkyMall or Sharper Image. But, I gave Philip Petracca, the CEO of the company the opportunity to convince me otherwise.

What is your take on this ? Magic Beans or just another waste of money for beer. Would it improve what you would otherwise call swill

Homogenising mouthfeel would take away one of the key pleasures of drinking different beers. Some of this certainly comes from taste but there are many more factors at play, even if it does have somewhat dubious flavour enhancing properties for some beers. I enjoy the crispness of some beers; the light head of others. I've never understood the desire to drink the same pint or similar day in, day out, particularly if it is nitrogenated.

I can just imagine people sitting at home contentedly drinking this fabulously smooth, completely inert beer, while pondering other ways technology can enhance relatively straightforward things.

For those of you who have read or seen Harry Potter, however long ago, I refer you to this scene:
