BIS transfer into 1st or 2nd year?

Hi, I've just finished 1 year in a course in ucd which consists of economic modules such as macro,micro,quantitative maths. I'm interested in transfering to BIS in Galway however it would be ideal for me to go into 2nd year as I wouldn't lose a grant. Can anyone tell me would that be too much work or is it better of to go…
