Emergency Tax

I realise there is a probably a thread for this but for the life of me I could not find it.

I am after starting new employment 3 months ago and I am still getting emergency taxed. I've handed all relevant documentation to my employer but they lost it so I have to redo it all again.

Anyway, I get paid monthly and my last pay slip I was taxed 600 euro for the month which was for a 5 week period. I work part time and earn 300 a week so my gross income for that period was 1,500 and I also paid 120 usc. Anyone here know if those figures are accurate and if so would I still be entitled to all my emergency tax back/how much? To date I've been paid gross 4,100 paid tax of 982 and usc of 328 over a 13 week period. I've tried to find a way of calculating online but to no avail.

I realise this is an open forum so therefore any advice may not be accurate but I was wondering is there anyone on here that might know a little more about it?

All you ever wanted to know in the below link. Contact Revenue with your employers details unless its your first job ever; in which case complete a form 12a and send it to Revenue. Any overpayment of taxes will be refunded in your wages by your employer once you are sorted with Revenue.

    Thank you,

I'm still unsure as to what I'd be due back roughly but it was a help. The USC charge seems a bit much. I was under the impression USC was 2%, I've been paying over 100 a month for it.

USC is 3 different rates - 1.5%, 3.5% & 7% (there is an 8% rate too, if you earn over a certain amount, it's a large figure that escapes me at the moment)

Divide your 100 by your gross pay, then multiply by 100, and you will get an idea of the rate you are paying (it should end up being a blend of the 3 percentages)

If on emergency tax USC is 8%

Often you personally have to ring revenue to ensure that your tax credits are properly allocated to a new employment.
