    New to vaping and have only been vaping a week...

    Have two bottles of e liquid I have been using this week and have noticed after one week that I have developed cold sores on the end of both nostrils on my nose.

    I am confident it is from the e cig juice as my father is vaping two months and has complained of the same also. I am presuming it is from exhaling the vape out the nose and have tried avoiding this since they have formed.

    The e cig juice i am using is called "pure mist" and is from puremist.co.uk which i bought through a local retailer in Galway and from reading the side of the bottle it is based on "Proplene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerin".

    I have read a brief comment on here somewhere about 100% vegetable based liquids that seem to cause less unwanted side effects but don`t give off as much of a throat hit when inhaled.

    As I wasn't a heavy smoker and hopefully wont be a heavy vapor, I am considering buying some of the vegetable based e liquid but would like to hear others comments first as to their experience with it and a recommended place to buy?

    On a separate note... I have been using two batteries both of which have been performing poorly. The first is a small battery which I bought a year ago but discarded as i never really gave the vaping a good shot. It is an "ego firebird" and the second I cannot name as I accidentally threw away the packaging and there is no print on the battery itself. The only markings on this one is what would resemble a "puff of smoke in the air" near the bottom of the battery?? Is there common problems with batteries in general, that they are known to perform poorly enough as standard?

    Lastly, does the nicotine content of the e juice eg- 10mg, 24mg, ect effect this level of throat hit or is this purely down to the quality of the juice?

    :confused::confused::confused:

    I responded to your post in the where to buy thread with some options, but keep in mind that high VG juice is very thick and won't work in a lot of devices.

    The nicotine content does affect throat hit, higher nicotine = harsher vape, in my experience anyway.

    side effects such as cold sores are quite normal and probably more a side effect of quitting the smokes rather than the liquid, I had it quite a bit the first 4-6 weeks after quitting as well, night sweat and crazy weird dreams were another thing that I found spooky, I think it is down to being addicted to the tons of other chemicals that are in the ciggies, nicotine itself is probably the most harmless

    Not being smart, but the mouthpiece/tip of whatever we vape from is often overlooked in regards to cleanliness.

    It is exposed to everything, whereas a cigarette tip is new each time!

    Good point really, I do clean it quite often though but should probably do it even more

    I find that i am more susceptible too sores in my nose since starting vaping (4 years or so). I don't know if i'd put put it completely down to vaping however.

    VG juices are thicker and can't be used in some devices raw, though you can mix a little bit of distilled water into the juice to thin it out a bit. Don't use tap water!.

    I'd recommend a new device to be honest, batteries get old and dangerous and generally just become ****e.
