Hey guys, Sorry if i posting this in the wrong place..
I'm thinking of getting my pride and joy a remap,
I've sent an email off to KC Systems in Watergrasshill for pricing and benefits in doing so,
Also since the car is 9 years old it's prob lost some bhp from wear and tear..

So can anyone who may have done this to their car tell me it worked out.. :D

Remapping is a complete waste of time, no power gains to be had.

    :p

    Yea...

    Well worth it.

Is it manual or a DSG Golf?

KC used to be one of the BMW forum site sponsor and have close links with www.autoremap.com up here in Dublin.

generally no unless the clutch was already on the way out . after remapping 9 cars over the years only had clutch slippage on 1 an E46 330d and even then it was only in top gear and the clutch had a lot of miles done on it.

i dont know anything about a quattro system so can comment but i highly doubt it

The Quattro system can handle it aslong as the OP upgrades the software in the Flux Capacitor. It's a cheap upgrade that's well worth doing IMHO.

Depends n the place you use. Some fly by night companies have propped up on Donedeal for €200, others more well known can be €300 and then prices can rise for packages that included before and after rolling road runs, DPF deletes etc etc

The remap should not affect it n any way, I've had my old S3 remapped with no problems, but I did have the diff oil changed and serviced on it.

Make sure to keep the haldex serviced and there's a trick seemly of you want to rolling road the car too, you remove the fuse so it allows it to happen :)

KC Systems as far as I am aware do not have a dyno and I also think it is generic maps they use.

Take it to my buddy in Fermoy to have it done properly

Hi forgot to mention vRS is petrol.

€250 then for a straight remap as far as I am aware.

You also get a couple of dyno runs with a before and after reading .

Their Dyno is pretty accurate according to befroe readings on some cars I have seen.
They will not map for maximum increase to avoid stressing the components.

    Hi.

I really cannot answer that as They could have been doing them with years before moving here.
Some people might not like it as they are Polish, but take my word for it, These are not your typical backyard guys.
They really and truly know their stuff, They maintain some seriously decent cars for customers,
I could honestly say they are probably busier than any garage in the local.

They also do not use generic maps,
They write their own. I have seen some cars done by them are transformed after it.

I've seen some manuals make near 250bhp and most DSG cap out at 240bhp.

Thanks again for the info Eugene, as for them being Polish, not a problem bud, once they know what their doing, as i'm not really all that knowledgeable when it comes to remaps and all that..

Lukasz will explain it all to you, They are seriously nice guys,
I think a guy called Jarek ( Yarik ) will do the actual Mapping.

Muppetcheck on here got his FR on a dyno run on their dyno and it was very accurate.

I'd be quiet happy with a remap done that i won't need to upgrade Brakes, Clutch or suspension,

It's really because since the golf's almost 10 years, it's prob not giving 200bhp since leaving the factory, due to wear n' tear and all that..

I know a cars performance does diminish down through the years..

None of the standard remaps (stage 1) will require any other upgrades.

    Thanks Eugene for that.

I would love to do some upgrades on the vRS as it's the longest kept car I've ever had. 2006 and over 140k miles but love it and still really tight to drive apart from the flywheel is on the way outwhich is something thats getting a little annoying but clutch is like new. I know I will haave to change the 2 together but the price is high to replace.

Evrything else on the car is original no major parts have been changed just normal services oh and an ecu as it fried 3 years ago.

Having had 2 haldex (and 2 torsen cars) i can assure it's very much a 4wd system, don't believe the tripe that's pedaled by people who generally don't know what they are talking about.

You will hear that usually from people who read too many Top gear magazines, anyone with actual real world experience of it will tell you the truth. Both my haldex cars wore rear tyres quicker than the fronts.

There was a guy on one of the US forums did a test where he took a reading from the pressure switch on the haldex clutch and it was on more than off, it was pretty much on from the word go. The haldex is the coupling clutch system that engages to connect the prop shaft to the rear diff.
