Focus Radio Issue

Having an issue with my 09 Focus, radio will often cut out and display shows "Phone" it will be stuck like this for mins/hours/days...completely intermittent and while it is in this mode you can't use the radio/cd or aux.

It seems to be a well known issue - have read various DIY fixes on the net, pulling fuses, soldering resistors between pins, messing with battery, taking apart the steering column radio controls, etc, but there seems to be no consensus and results vary from no change to problem solved - anyone on here successfully fixed one yet?

It is an issue with those radios we take them out and send them out for repair.

Any idea how much that costs and how long the fix lasts?

This is a very common complaint with this model stereo..usually model 6000.
Repair is usually done whilst customer waits ...takes approx. 30 mins providing customer has the 4 digit pin code , if not it can be calculated.

Possibly written in the manual. Once radio is disconnected from car it will require a 4 digit pin code to reactivate it back in to car. If serial no. starts with M there is no problem calculating code. If it starts with V , code can still be calculated but there is only a few of us in the country who know how to do it.
