Does anyone know where to get the best euro to sterling exchange for a UK car purchase?

    Thanks in advance

But have pretty cr@p exchange rate, and that's what OP is asking.

Transfermate or Currencyfair, or any other online currency exchange service.

Used transfermate.com there recently. Actually saved a few hundred versus bank. Was very happy with it.

With that AnPost thing. When I checked not all post offices can change it into cash currency. Some only let you put the money onto those pretend credit cards.

Bought from UK recently using CurrencyFair. No problems, seamless.

Only problem with currency fair or transfermate, is that after converting, they have to transfer money straight to UK, so it's either to your UK account or directly to the car dealer.
If you don't have account in UK, transferring through currency fair or trasnfermate directly to dealer is the only option really.

Pity no Irish bank offers easily accessible sterling account.

I did it a few months back with currency fair. Once you set up account with them do a bank transfer to their account in Euros. It takes one working day. Then once the money is confirmed in there account, you will be able to exchange it online into sterling whenever you want. When I did it I studied the exchange rate over a week and then decided to change it at the right time. So once your money is lodged in Euros into the account, its up to you to decide when to exchange it. Once you exchange it it is converted into sterling and stays at this amount no matter what rate is at the time of final transfer.

When I went to the dealer in the UK and was happy with the car I transferred the money from my currency fair account to the dealers bank. It took 3 hours to transfer.

Very simple, worthwhile process and I saved 1000 Euros than if I had to go via the bank route.

    Hope that helps

I also had a week between agreeing purchase and picking up so watched the rate for the week and got the best rate possible. Transfer directly to dealers account. I was buying from an Audi main dealer, so I took the risk that they were solvent.
