Hi, bit of a thread revival on this but i said i would put up the results when i got the car dyno'd and here they are! Now bear in mind the only difference here is the remap nothing else. The car is running this map now for the past nearly 2 years with not one problem! It also passed Nct just after Xmas with a 0.000 reading on the smoke test ;)

well mine is the 1.9 cdti! They are 147bhp standard. Mine has a FMIC, a hybrid turbo, decat and a remap and thats it! Joe was filling me with s**t when he did it saying the pump cant go any higher and other excuses and the car was nothing to drive compared to what it is now :) As soon as i got it mapped properly i had to get an uprated clutch with the extra power :D

I had it sorted out by a remapper on the Vectra site UK that i am on, he told me the software to get so that he could read and write my ECU after Joe refused to send him the map to correct and re-write for me and he also did it for free as he felt sorry for me being ripped off in the first place!

I have got him to remap alot of my friends car since doing mine and all are extremely pleased with not one problem with any of them. He is able to remap cars with EDC15 and EDC16 ECU as that is what he has the software for.

I also have just got him to re-do a map on a 150 tdi Golf last week which was previously mapped by the above mentioned aswell and it too is like a different car the owner cant believe it! On a little stretch where we do a little acceleration test on our cars from point to point the Golf now does an extra 12MPH over what it did before

PS : Do i need to reach a certain post count before i can add photo's?

Was it mapped using a rolling road?

Not for the current map. I got the MPPS and also got an Opcom so when i loaded the map i took the car for a run in 3rd and 4th gear separately from 1,000rpm to redline and saved the log and sent to the mapper who then can monitor boost, fueling and many other readings and tweek the map accordingly.

How do you know the BHP figure then?

Do you mind me asking whos' dyno it was on?

    Shane Staffords just outside Wexford

My friend brought out his remapped BMW today also which has a map and it made just 169bhp from the 150bhp standard so safe to say it seems to be reading fairly accurate although he may have an issue with his cat converters! We have had a few cars done out there over the years and all seem to be showing correct figures. I had a tuned saxo VTS last year which was mapped and Dyno'd at Sportchip and showed 149bhp on Sportchips Dyno but when i later had it dyno'd in Staffords it only showed 138bhp so if anything it could be under reading but im not going to speculate on that as it could be Sportchips over reading although with the mods i had done to the saxo it was supposed to make around the 150-155bhp mark

I have photos of the dyno with the 2 different map's and also a photo of a dyno run before any map which shows if anything that the first map dyno run was over reading ;) I will post all up as soon as possible :)

What did your insurer say about your remap op?

I really wish you hadn't. The thread is quite confusing without context. What's wrong with posting in an old thread if the content of the post is a natural continuation of it?

Zombie threads being resurrected are APITA imo, it can be annoying and cluttering when people reply to posts that were written years ago by posters who no longer post in the forum or have since closed their accounts.

    What engine is that?
It sounds a pretty weak improvement.

Not really. You have to declare any mods. Not declaring them is a non-disclosure which voids your policy. You'd probably get away with a map as they are unlikely to check but I have first hand witnessed a car having its ECU checked specifically for a map after a crash in Ireland. Certainly any physical mods I'd be mentioned such as up-rating beyond stock.

According to the mechanic I was with at the time, its becoming very common. Think about it, send out a guy with a scanner for 2 hours versus a monumental insurance pay out? Simple economics.

Its a 2003 320D, but he thinks his cat may be blocked as he had an exhaust leak and since getting it sorted he said the car felt a bit restricted. But also he hasn't got the software to take a live reading yet like i have opcom for my car so the map can be tweeked so its running a fairly safe map until he does!

It'd be pretty blatant non disclosure if he/she didn't.

Not sure about that engine but the M47 engine gives good results with a dpf delete and remap.

E46 20d had no DPF IIRC. Usually the maps in these cars get from 150-190ish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 62 ✭✭PBWXFORD

Yep no DPF on this but 2 cats so he is going to see about getting those out and possibly a bigger turbo as another member on the BMW site has an X5 turbo for sale. At the moment his car has just over 200,000miles on it aswell. The torque was good it made just under over 295 lb/ft

Here is the dyno run before being mapped. The car read 17bhp more than what it should have here as the are 147bhp standard and indicates this dyno is likely to be over reading

Here is the dyno print after Joe Power mapped it and is on the same dyno as above

And here is the dyno with the current map

Here is the smoke test from December with the current map on the car also
