Have a NCT on the Peugeot next week and the heater blower is not working.
    Is this checked?

Had a read of the manual and its not specifically mentioned but electrical items are mentioned.

    Any ideas?

Really?? The blower didn't work in my old car and it passed 3 NCTs are you sure it is checked?

I didn't think it was checked, more of a convenience item than safety.

You can just clean the window with a demister pad.

Not in there, it is a 2012 version. But no mention.

' while driving , how can that be safe'
Even with blower working some cars fog up as the blower output is neglible due, for example, to dirty/blocked pollen filter . And cleaning with a cloth etc is common . What other option do you have - and whats unsafe about it ?
Never seen a blower checked - brought a friend's car in for test once on a cold frosty Nov evening and had a hell of a time keeping screen clear as blower had failed completely . Passed the test no problem though.

mine isnt working for the past while, have had to put it through the full test twice in past 3 months (long story) and the blower either wasnt checked or nothing mentioned about it...

And it's not in the latest edition either

As others have said, the windscreen demister is not included in the test specification so cannot be a fail item.

opening a window can prevent fogging.

Not a great option if its pouring rain or freezing cold :(.

And if it was to be checked would it :
    a) just check that its working or
    b) check its actually blowing air into the car - as I said earlier have come across
    quite a few with little or no airflow due mostly to blocked pollen(cabin) filter;

A friend of mine had a van in for its DOE last week and they failed it on the heater blower not working......

So its not checked in the NCT anyway :)

It would as the demister is checked as part of the LCV and HCV CVR tests.
It's not part of the NCT though.
