does anyone know what the cost for laying pipe is?
is there a trailed unit which will open the trench, lay the pipe and close it afterwards?
looking for an approximate cost per yard.
    thanks

Got a price off a lad doing it and was a euro a meter and I supply the pipe , ended up getting the neighbour who was doing some ploughing for me who had a moul plough and had 800 meters down in under 2 hours . Did 2 runs first to loosen the ground and ran the pipe after , and rolled ground after job done

Dig a hole at either end and mole plough from one to the other. You need a pipe, with a small bend and no sharp edges, welded onto the back of the plough to feed the pipe through, then just drive over the trench with the wheel of the tractor.

Yes that's why I went to the neighbour , his home had a pipe behind the plough and I fed the pipe into it while he was moving , great job

You need to be careful to lay it deep enough or water may freeze in cold weather, I would say at least 450 mm

Water mains needs to be a minimum of 750mm. I'm 99% sure the new regs state a metre.

my two worrys here would be you want to make sure its deep enough so if you are ploughing the ground you wont get caught up in it and if you are driving posts you wont burst the pipe which is something we have done on a couple of occasions

You could also be just moving a stone to one side with the mole plough and when you drive over it again you could be damaging the pipe. Some job trying to find that leak.

What size pipe were you laying? What would be the max size the mole plough could handle?

Put in 3/4 heavy gauge pipe, that would be the heaviest to go trough it ,

I also need to lay water pipes 3/4 inch as well but gonna use a mini digger as going through a couple of hedges and fences.

It would depend on the size of the sleeve on the back of the mole plough. Have ploughed in 3/4 and inch with no problems. I'd say you could go a bit bigger again.
