At the risk of being a little aloof, here's the brief:

    1) it has to have style and/ or spec- I know these are relative terms but something ordinary that's specced up or a car with good credentials out of the box buy I will consider anything that's exceptionally practical.

    2) it has to be economical for mixed use but sensible driving so,

    3) probably petrol 1.6 ish max (maybe 1.8 if it's the right yoke) There are tons of high mile diesels but with turbos, DPF's, flywheels, injectors etc I'd be happier with petrol and they often have fewer miles and a smaller price tag

    4) has to be practical- 5 door hatch or compact estate ideally but would consider saloons if they have enough going for them. I like coupe and 3dr styling but just don't love the compromises for my main car

    5) has to last approx 3 years without breaking my heart completely and I'm not overly concerned about resale. I try to take a sensible attitude to repairs and maintenance but I do need respite from the horror I've had with cheap cars and bikes for the last few years

    6) I will consider anything as a wild card

So far I've been thinking about a speccie Leon, Civic and I narrowly missed out on a bargain 09 Bravo that I'm gutted over (love Italian cars)...

Is going to the UK for something viable? I'd love to do that again if it were worth it.
